Two newly signed drivers, Jackie Ding of Shenzhen, China, and Skylar Robinson of Augusta, Georgia, will join the series during its second stop at Mid-Ohio scheduled for Aug. 11-13.
The 2016 F4 U.S. Championship roster now includes competitors from five countries, six states and four continents and 16 cars are expected for the second race weekend of the season. There are no limitations in terms of nationality for entries.
Ding is the latest F4 U.S. event entry, joining Group-A Racing out of Lindenhurst, New York. Ding, 18, has been a member of Group-A’s driver development program since the start of his racing career three years ago. Under its leadership, Ding competed in the Skip Barber racing series and then moved on to the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) sanctioned Formula Lites series.
“I’m looking forward to battling my good friends again, especially Konrad Czaczyk," Ding said. “The last time Konrad and I raced against each other at Skip Barber he beat me by nine thousandths of a second. It’s my turn to defeat him."
Czaczyk of Loxahatchee, Florida, swept the entire series the last time the F4 U.S. competitors met, winning all three races during the inaugural event weekend at Mid-Ohio in July.
Ding will join teammate Raphael Forcier of Montreal in the run for the $25,000 F4 U.S. Championship grand prize. Competitors who place second and third in the championship standings will be awarded $10,000 (second) and $5,000 (third).
Robinson, 20, joins Momentum Motorsports as its second driver entered for Mid-Ohio, joining teammate Baltazar Leguizamon of Buenos Aries, Argentina. Robinson will compete in the yellow and black wrapped No. 2 F4 U.S. car.
Robinson has had a successful early career in karts and formula racing winning the British Formula Ford Triple Crown Championship and placing second in both the F2000 and F1600 championships. Robinson plans to use the F4 U.S. Championship as the next step in furthering his professional racing career.
“F4 U.S. is a very attractive series to look at with all the involved partners," Robinson said. “I’m excited to get behind the wheel at Mid-Ohio and start working toward my professional driving future with Momentum Motorsports."
