NASCAR this afternoon will announce an executive shakeup that will see longtime Exec VP & CMO Steve Phelps move into a more global role as the sanctioning body continues to grow its international presence. Phelps, who joined NASCAR in '05 as VP/Corporate Marketing after a 14-year stint with the NFL and became CMO the following year, will now be Exec VP & Chief Global Sales & Marketing Officer. He will oversee the global functions for marketing, partnership and series marketing, business development, communications, licensing and consumer products, and NASCAR Digital Media. He will continue to serve as NASCAR's top officer in its Charlotte HQ. The new CMO will be Jill Gregory, currently NASCAR's Senior VP/Marketing & Industry Services, who becomes the first female CMO in NASCAR history and retains the Senior VP title.

Also, VP/Partnership Marketing Norris Scott is becoming VP/Analytics & Insights, a new role at NASCAR, while his current role will be filled by Managing Dir of Partnership Marketing Lou Garate. Scott now will oversee NASCAR's consumer research functions, including social analytics, digital research, sponsorship valuation and media/market research. The moves in the midst of NASCAR's hunt for the new sponsor of the Sprint Cup Series. Adam Stern/SBD
