Detroit: Power leads Chevy 1-2-3-4 in opening practice (Update)

UPDATE The morning practice session was relatively smooth. Mikhail Aleshin, driving the #7 entry for Schmidt-Petersen Racing caused 2 red flags during the one hour and 15 minute session. The first time his car stalled in turn 4 after a spin and the second time, he made contact with the tire barrier in Turn 7. Aleshin was held 10 minutes when the practice session resumed for causing the red flags. Lucille Dust reporting from Detroit

06/03/16 Honda had its day in the sun at Indy but now we are back on a street circuit and Chevy is back on top. Will Power led a Chevy 1-2-3-4 of the top times in opening practice for the Detroit GP IndyCar race. The fastest Honda, James Hinchcliffe, was nearly a second a lap slower.

Power's lap of 1m15.020s was a half-second faster that Penske teammate Helio Castroneves who clocked in at 1m15.580s.

Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud and James Hinchcliffe rounded out the top-5.

Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi was only 18th, still learning a track he never saw before.
