Castroneves leads Chevy 1-2-3-4 in opening session at PIR

Castroneves with the latest Chevy aero package

With a lap time of 19.5858s, Helio Castroneves led a Team Penske 1-2 in today's opening session of the Verizon IndyCar Series test at Phoenix International Raceway. Will Power was second a mere one-hundredth of a second off Castroneves' fast time as both drivers lapped the 1-mile Avondale, AZ oval quicker than Arie Luyendyk's nearly twenty-year-old track record.

Ed Carpenter Racing's Josef Newgarden was third, with Juan Pablo Montoya completing a Chevrolet sweep of the top-four spots. Graham Rahal was the fastest Honda in fifth.
