One dead in crash at Buttonwillow Raceway Park

Ivo Tuchi, 45, suffered a fatal crash at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in California on Sunday.

Tuchi was instructing a passenger at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in a BMW M3 at a track day event, according to park president Les Phillips. The crash occurred one day before Tuchi's 46th birthday.

"He came through the 'essess,' which is a fast section of a racetrack, and got two wheels off the ground and corrected a little bit aggressively maybe," said Phillips. "Went into a long slide and hit the corner station there at the sunset turn."

Tuchi's passenger was taken to hospital with major injuries.

Tuchi had moved to the United States from Bulgaria and had founded Renner Motorsport, which is accepting donations to help the family and Tuchi's business. More information is available on the Renner Motorsport Facebook page:
