NASCAR Race At Talladega Ends In Controversy, Called “Debacle”

Yesterday's Sprint Cup Series 500 at Talladega Superspeedway ended in "one of the most controversial finishes in NASCAR history." After "one try at an overtime finish was ruled not to be an attempt because the field had not yet crossed the start-finish line, a second ended immediately after it started when a multi-car crash broke out and necessitated a caution flag effectively ending the race." Joey Logano was ruled the winner.

The race became "simply a colossal embarrassment" and a "complete debacle, unsatisfying in every way for fans." The race winner and the drivers who advanced in the Chase were "determined by video-tape after a crash." USA TODAY
