Question: Any idea when we will see Derrick Walker's replacement? (Sam, Indianapolis)
Answer: Well, Mark Miles, IndyCar's CEO, is effectively Walker’s replacement, although he said there will be another hire. Here’s answers to two questions I posed to Miles that had to be trimmed from Pit Pass:
On finding someone with Walker’s skill set to manage several aspects of the series:
“Our staff knows it’s our plan to see if we can identify somebody for a job to whom competition, engineering and competition would report and that person would report to me."
On naming a race director:
“We’re still thinking about the basic choice of using the (current) steward system and if so do we separate the race director’s role from the stewards’ roles. Or, do we go back (a single official)."
Question: When will we see 2016 IndyCar schedule? (Andrew, St. Marys, Ohio)
Answer: Surely it will be in a week or two; Miles told me IndyCar is waiting on an answer from Pocono and contract signings by the folks in Phoenix and Mexico City. Then, if Pocono doesn’t come back, IndyCar needs to see about landing an August race, which very well could be at Gateway.
Question: Is Chevrolet OK with Scott Dixon driving a Ford for Ganassi Racing in the Tudor United SportsCar championship at Road Atlanta? (Barry, Carmel, Ind.)
Answer: I haven’t asked Chevrolet's Jim Campbell, but I suspect his answer is that as long as Dixon and Ganassi keep winning IndyCar championships they can do about anything they want. But also, it’s surely in the Ganassi contract that this is permitted. Curt Cavin/Indy Star
