Construction Begins at 100-acre SPEEDVEGAS facility

LAS VEGAS, NV SPEEDVEGAS, a 100-acre speed complex and supercar experience, officially broke ground on South Las Vegas Boulevard on September 21, 2015. Steve Sisolak, Chairman of the Clark County Commission, board members, dignitaries and SPEEDVEGAS executives, Aaron Fessler and Tom Mizzone, dug their ceremonial shovels into the future "starting line" at SPEEDVEGAS. This event marked the start of construction on the $30 million motorsports complex that will feature a 1.5-mile supercar track, multilevel welcome center, large event center and much more. The presentation featured speeches by Sisolak, Fessler and Michael Goldsmith, LVCVA Vice President of International Marketing, addressing the impact this project will have on Las Vegas.

"SPEEDVEGAS is a welcome addition to our city's ever growing assortment of extraordinary experiences," said Sisolak. "This project is a perfect example of the forward thinking advancement of the Las Vegas destination and of the expansion of South Las Vegas Boulevard. The SPEEDVEGAS project will help transform where the Las Vegas experience begins." After his speech, Sisolak presented Fessler with a proclamation officially naming September 21 as SPEEDVEGAS Day in Clark County

"It is this kind of investment in the tourism industry that keeps our visitors coming back time and time again," said Goldsmith. "SPEEDVEGAS is one of those experiences that visitors from around the world will seek out and enjoy as part of their own personal ‘Only in Vegas' experience. We look forward to adding this one-of-a-kind attraction to Las Vegas."

In May 2015, the Clark County Commissioners unanimously voted in favor of the SPEEDVEGAS project. The project has received strong support from the Las Vegas tourism industry. The design of the guest experience was influenced by a Focus Group composed of leading professionals from the LVCVA, International Tour Operators from UK, Latin America and Asia, along with meeting and event planners. Each invited guest at the groundbreaking was given a SPEEDVEGAS token to sign. The autographed token will later become a permanent piece of the SPEEDVEGAS inaugural wall, forever commemorating the event and those who participated.

"Today's groundbreaking ceremony, and the official start of construction of SPEEDVEGAS, is a culmination of years of hard work to realize our dream of building a world-class destination for visitors to our city," said Aaron Fessler, CEO of SPEEDVEGAS. "We cannot thank the Las Vegas community and its leaders for all of the support. Each of you here today played a part in making this groundbreaking happen and even more importantly, in SPEEDVEGAS' continued success. We'll see you at the finish line."

SPEEDVEGAS will become the southernmost major attraction in Las Vegas, just 10-minutes from the ‘Welcome to Las Vegas' sign, Las Vegas Strip and McCarran International Airport. The destination will offer an entire speed experience with activities such as drifting, demonstrations, simulators and driving the world's most sought-after exotic and muscle cars. SPEEDVEGAS is scheduled to open early next year and is currently taking reservations for March, 2016.
