Following a successful test at Donington Park, Robin Frijns has been confirmed to pilot the No. 27 Amlin Andretti Spark-Renault SRT-01_E for the Andretti Formula E Team in the 2015-16 FIA Formula E Championship.

"We’re very excited to have Robin join the team,"
said Andretti Formula E namesake, Michael Andretti. "He’s only done one test for us, but he did a really good job and he has a great attitude. We feel that with him and Simona (de Silvestro), we have a strong team put together and are ready for season two."

"It is an honor to be part of the Andretti family and to drive for them in Formula E," said Frijns. "It's a new championship and a completely new challenge for me. The way of driving and saving energy is going to be tough, but fun and I am really looking forward to the first race in Beijing in a few weeks time."

Frijns, born August 7, 1991 in Maastrict, The Netherlands, is a multi-Championship title holder. His impressive list of single-seater series winning trophies comprises 2010 Formula BMW Europe, 2011 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the 2012 World Series by Renault 3.5, which afforded him Formula 1™ Young Driver tests with Sauber and Red Bull Racing.

In 2013 Robin became Sauber F1 test driver and participated in a partial season of the GP2 Series (6 events, 1 win, 2 podiums), leading him to secure the role of Caterham F1 test driver for 2014.

The young Dutchman currently leads the 2015 Blancpain GT Series alongside teammate Laurens Vanthoor and the Belgian ‘W Racing Team’ (WRT), with three rounds remaining.

Amlin Europe CEO Kim Hvirgel said, "Robin has produced great results at all levels of motorsport so we are really excited to see him competing in the Amlin Andretti car. It’s also fantastic that we have a driver from The Netherlands and I'm sure Robin will quickly become a firm fan favourite."

"Robin is an accomplished racer and always one to watch on the track," said Kari Janavitz, vice president, Marketing, Andretti Formula E major sponsor TE Connectivity. "As TE continues to partner with Andretti on accelerating development of new electric vehicle technologies, Robin’s input and experience will be invaluable to our track-side racing program for the Formula E series."

Frijns joins previously announed Andretti Formula E driver Simona de Silvestro to complete the two-car line up for the American race team. De Silvestro will pilot the No. 28 Amlin Andretti Spark-Renault SRT-01_E.
