British driver Tom Blomqvist will remember this day for a long time. In only his 14th DTM race, the BMW driver claimed his maiden victory in the most popular international touring car series in a commanding and dominant way. Having started from second place into the race at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on Sunday, he already took first place at the start and held on to it until the finish. Second place, at a considerable distance to the race winner, went to Brazil's Augusto Farfus, Blomqvist’s team mate in the BMW Team RBM. And, like on Saturday, BMW had a clean sweep of the podium: last year’s champion Marco Wittmann (Germany) finished third. Mercedes F1 reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein has extended his lead in the drivers’ standings.

The Mercedes-Benz driver finished fifth behind Antonio Felix da Costa (Portugal). Canadian Bruno Spengler only managed to score one point for the championship, while Mattias Ekstrom (Sweden) again failed to score points by finishing eleventh. The race was stopped early on lap 41 following a heavy crash by Lucas Auer. The Austrian climbed out of his car by himself. With four races remaining until the end of the season, Pascal Wehrlein is in the lead of the drivers’ standings with 140 points from Mattias Ekstrom (126 points). Edoardo Mortara (Italy) (110 points) and Jamie Green (UK) (107 points) are in third and fourth place respectively, while Bruno Spengler is the best-placed BMW driver with 104 points in fifth place.
