Tune in Alert! AutoNation Makes Automotive History (Update)

UPDATE A reader writes, Dear AutoRacing1.com, The big news here, for IndyCar, is that the AutoNation ad features a IndyCar and IndyCar driver prominently throughout the commercial.

A commercial that is slated to have more than 200 million impressions ($22M Broadcast Media Buy) and those ads are running in major prime time slots from stick and ball sports, motorsports and nightly network news. For instance the Stanley Cup Finals, Belmont Stakes, NBA Finals, Golf, Movies, etc., not to mention every IndyCar race for the next month. I have included some screen shots of the commercial below and the IndyCar looks fast and very different from a NASCAR, America’s dominant motorsport right now, and the driver has the looks as if they got him from central casting.

First time this type of advertising has been done since Target did the Vasser vs. Zanardi ads where they dueled in RV’s. If only more IndyCar sponsors would activate to half this level IndyCar would be all over TV and it would help grow the sport. Steven Carson, Chagrin Falls, Ohio

06/03/15 At 3 PM today (Wednesday) IndyCar driver Ryan Hunter-Reay will appear on Fox Business Closing Bell Show with Ashley Webster. Earlier in the day AutoNation boss Mike Jackson will announce that AutoNation has sold their 10 millionth car on CNBC Squawk Box (7:00 AM). Hunter-Reay and Jackson work together to raise money to fight cancer.
