Good morning from Long Beach (Update)

UPDATE We looked more into the matter with Carlos Huertas being replaced by Rocky Moran, Jr. for this weekend's race. Huertas was on the entry list as early as this morning, and apparently the change was decided upon as late as last evening.

As you might expect with such matters, the team was relatively coy with details. And there was no indication as to what the future might hold with Huertas. However, we essentially gathered that a check did not clear, and that the change is a business matter.

Southern California-based fast food restaurant chain King Taco is on the side winglets of the #98 Bryan Herta Autosport entry this weekend driven by Gabby Chaves.

We forgot to put this in the Event Summary. However, teams have 5 sets of primary tires and 3 sets of options for this weekend. Of course, teams get to carry over their tires from weekend-to-weekend this year. And with teams having not used many tires last weekend in NOLA, there will be extra tires available for this weekend. How exactly the teams will employ their surplus of tires, we are not sure.

Lovely morning here in Long Beach

With temperatures are in the low-mid 70s, the bright California sunshine perfectly tempered by the gentle Pacific breezes, and the sound of race cars powering down Shoreline Drive, it is just about a perfect Friday morning here at Long Beach.

In the completely out of nowhere news of the morning, Rocky Moran, Jr. will replace Carlos Huertas in the #18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda. The big challenge right now in the AutoRacing1 section of the media center is trying to find a Rocky Moran, Jr headshot . in the AR1 database. Three AR1 reporters on-site, not one has yet found a Moran mug shot.

IndyCar practice begins at 12:30 p.m. local time. Stay tuned to AR1 throughout the weekend for updates.
