Video: Tesla P85D Insane Mode Launch Reactions Compilation

Tesla Motors Inc. installed a special feature in its dual-motor Model S P85D that is blowing people's minds. No, not an ejector seat (yet), but a button that throws a driver into "insane mode."

What's insane mode? It's when the car accelerates from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds. Yep, you read that right. The car's acceleration is on par with some of the world's fastest sports cars from the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini.

DragTimes, a YouTube channel that tests the acceleration of fast cars, created a compilation video of passengers' reactions to the feature. The channel set up a dash cam in a Model S and lured some unsuspecting people in for a ride. Their reactions bring to mind what you might see when someone takes off on a roller coaster.

The Model S typically accelerates from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds, according to Tesla's website. But the driver can go into insane mode by coming to a complete stop and toggling from "sport" mode to "insane" mode via a button on the digital console.
