IMSA Implements New Tech Inspection Process
The sanctioning body revealed plans this week for a new two-step process, aimed to reduce the amount of time required for teams to be at each circuit in the build-up to an event.
Technical inspection will now take place between practice sessions, with cars required to complete a seven-step safety inspection prior to the start of on-track activity.
Previously, both the safety checks and tech inspection were required before the first practice session.
Each car will be allocated three minutes for each of the safety stations, which includes checks such as belts, fire extinguishers and cockpit safety.
The new streamlined tech inspection, meanwhile, will be comprised of two stations, including weights and measures performed on a scale pad and lift, and should take no more than 20 minutes total to complete.
As was the case last year, all cars will continue to have assigned times to complete technical inspection. sportscar365.com
