NASCAR fines Nationwide, truck crew chiefs for violations

NASCAR issued relatively small fines Tuesday for violations last weekend in Nationwide and truck events at Iowa Speedway and Pocono Raceway.

Jonas Bell, crew chief for Rick Ware Racing driver Carl Long, was fined $10,000 and put on probation through the end of the year after improperly attached weight fell off the No. 23 car during the Nationwide Series event Saturday at Iowa Speedway.

NASCAR, which confiscated the carburetor base plates from the truck of Timothy Peters prior to on-track activity last weekend at Pocono Raceway, fined crew chief Marcus Richmond $7,500 and put Richmond on probation through the end of the year. The Red Horse Racing team had violated the Camping World Truck Series rule that requires the combined thickness of the throttle shaft and the throttle plates (butterflies) to be at least 0.197 inches.
