Mid Ohio Saturday noon report (Update)

UPDATE Photo below shows the heavy rain that hit Mid-Ohio.

Rain hits Mid-Ohio

08/02/14 – Practice session 3 is in the books, and Ryan Hunter-Reay was fastest by 1/10 of a second. Scott Dixon, Justin Wilson, Simon Pagenaud, and Mikhail Aleshin round out the top 5. All cars set their fastest laps of the weekend in this session, so the fastest-for-the-weekend list is identical.

– However, the numbers posted are probably a moot point. Scattered strong thunderstorms are in the area, and the weather predictions call for an 80% chance of rain. My own prediction is for 100% chance of rain, since I am tent camping this weekend here. Certainly black clouds are looming as the World Challenge race is currently underway. The forecast for 2:00 pm, when the IndyCars will qualify, call for 60% chance of thunderstorms, so there is a significant chance of qualifications in the dry-wet-moist-dry. The sudden nature of the storms will certainly make for some interesting strategies.
