IndyCar Pocono TV rating plummets 74% (Update)

UPDATE How bad is NBCSN? Here are the top 10 shows last week on NBCSN. Note the highest rating – 0.2 – and the number of viewers. IndyCar will not grow with TV ratings like this. If the powers to be really wanted the sport to grow, they would buy out the NBCSN contract, put all the races on ABC, and cancel the Leader Card welfare program. With ABC delivering 1.3 million viewers per races, the series will grow and the teams will no longer need the Welfare Program. They will begin to land their own sponsors and hire drivers who bring the most talent, not the most money, and the Welfare Program money can go towards the ABC deal.

07/11/14 Only 342,000 viewers tuned into the 2nd jewel of the Verizon IndyCar Series Triple Crown, the Pocono 500 at Pocono Raceway last weekend on NBC Sports Network (pictured right – the man represents IndyCar hanging from the NBCSN noose).

That is down 73.6% from last year when the race garnered 1.3 million viewers on ABC on the same Independence Day weekend.
