07/11/14 A light drizzle hit Iowa Speedway about 15 minutes into Verizon IndyCar Series practice this morning. Officially, the session is under a yellow flag. However, the teams have taken the cars back to the garage area and we suspect the practice session is over for now.

Andretti Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe currently leads the session, with Tony Kanaan second and Carlos Munoz third. Graham Rahal turned the most laps of any driver with 28.

My expert reading of the weather map says that the current shower will likely wipe out the session but should pass in a reasonable amount of time to allow for running this afternoon.

During the session, I was standing in turn 1 when the end plate Ryan Hunter-Reay's DHL Honda suddenly came off the car. It was a clean break as you could visibly see the trademark #28 flying through the air. Luckily, RHR made it around to the pits without incident, when the team changed his endplate and got him back out.

Of course, IndyCar qualifying is scheduled for 2 p.m. local time today. We imagine there is a good chance this will be rescheduled and will pass along any information once we receive it.
