NASCAR Announces Penalties Following Bristol

NASCAR announced penalties to the No. 99 NASCAR Nationwide Series team after violations discovered at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

The No. 99 Rheem Toyota, driven by former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion, James Buescher, was found to have violated sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 20A-2.3A (added car weight; improperly attached weight; loss of weight during the event) of the 2014 Nationwide Series rule book.

As for these penalties, crew chief, Chris Rice, has been fined $10,000 and has been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Also, car chief, John Guerra, will also be placed on probation until then. Under NASCAR’s new penalty system, this will fall under the P3 category. No points will be deducted from the No. 99 RAB Racing organization.

These penalties come just after three teams were found with various rule violations following last weekend’s events at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. One of the three cars last week was also popped for the same rule violation that hit the No. 99 team this weekend.
