Millennium Withdraws from Sebring

Despite having already been on-track at the Florida airfield circuit last week, Millennium Racing has withdrawn its P2 entry for this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The British-based squad, led by Simon Dowson, along with a handful of other FIA World Endurance Championship teams, completed a Dunlop tire test on the 3.7-mile circuit in preparation for the season-opener at Silverstone in April.

John Martin handled testing duties of the team’s Oreca 03 Nissan, which was due to switch to Continental tires for the second round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

It’s unclear the exact reason for their late withdrawal.

Martin and Fabien Giroix finished on the overall podium in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona in a Corvette DP jointly run by Delta Motorsport and Action Express Racing. Both drivers were expected to be part of the Delta-run Millennium P2 entry for Sebring.

The withdrawal now leaves a 65-car entry, including 17 Prototypes. Official practice gets underway on Thursday. Sportscar365
