Video: Hollering and shoving breaks out in ARCA garage after race

A loud confrontation with “hollering and shoving" in the ARCA Racing garage after the Lucas Oil 200 Saturday and another on pit road between the Roulo Brothers Racing Team and a Hendrick Cars team will get a closer look from series officials over the next couple of days.

“We will review all the video we have," said Mark Gundrum, ARCA vice president. “Any penalties or fines will be released on Tuesday."

Several witnesses said team members with Roulo Brothers Racing Ford started the confrontation by shouting insults at crew members for the No. 9 Chevy, driven by Chase Elliott, the 18-year-old grandson of NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bill Elliott.

One of those witnesses later posted a video of the confrontation on You Tube.

The conflicts stemmed from an incident 13 laps into the race when a wreck collected more than a dozen cars. Team members and fans disputed whether the crash was caused by Buster Graham in the No. 99 or Elliott.

Graham and his team were convinced Elliott bumped the No. 99 car from behind, forcing him to spin out. Shortly after the crash, television footage showed a brief conflict between a member of the No. 99 team and the No. 9 team.

When the race concluded, the overheated emotion continued in the garage as the teams were rolling the cars back to the haulers.

“A couple of the Hendrick guys were standing out there talking and the 99 guys started yelling and hollering and shoving," said Bejan Bourbour of Ormond Beach, who posted the video. “It's just like a crazy thing."

“It comes a fine line when you start yelling and hollering and saying, 'well all you have in your race car is a pretty boy,' " Bourbour said.

As a crowd gathered, one member of the 99 team pulled a bat away from another, said Bourbour. Teams use bats to do body work on the cars after crashes.

ARCA officials quickly arrived on the scene and are shown on Bourbour's video trying to settle things down.
