Michela Cerruti signs with Super Nova

Michela Cerruti and Super Nova International have completed a deal for the 2014 Auto GP Season. For the reigning champion team, enrolling the 26-year-old female racer is the first step in an effort to retain the overall honors for a third straight season after winning-back-to-back titles in 2012, with Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, and 2013, with Vittorio Ghirelli. Michela made her Auto GP debut last August at the Nurburgring. Then, she joined the British operation, owned by the Sears family, in the postseason tests at Jerez and Vallelunga. Cerruti is set to become the first female to race a full Auto GP season.

“It is great to join Super Nova in Auto GP – I feel it was a lucky shot to begin the relationship at the end of last year in order to help decide on my direction for 2014. For a driver it is good to know that I have a winning team and car combination and we worked very well in the testing together. I know that I need to improve and the team has already showed that they will help to guide me. It is the first time I have worked with a non-Italian team and I admire the way that Super Nova work and appreciate and understand that we are pushing for a common goal. The team work is a key factor and it is important to see that the team believes in me so that I can concentrate on driving, knowing that everything else is taken care of professionally".

John Sears
“We worked well with Miki during our winter test program and were very impressed with her performance over the four days that we spent in Vallelunga and Jerez, where she was consistently in the top three on the time sheets. We are excited to be part of her development and believe that she has the ability and capacity to compete at the front of the Auto GP field. We will manage her growth step by step but I believe that scoring podiums is certainly a realistic target for this season. We have been working hard over the winter to strengthen the team further, particularly on the technical side and with some exciting new collaborations All of this will further enhance Super Nova as more than just a racing team but an organization that builds and educates winning drivers and helps them to realize their future goals as professionals".

Enzo Coloni
“The addition of Michela to the Auto GP family for 2014 is great news for us. We’re happy to retain one of the brightest prospects of all the championships she raced in recently. I’m confident that Michela will be able, after a some little training, to fight at the front of the pack".
