MotoGP Track In Brasilia Unable To Host Sept. 28 Race (Update)

UPDATE The Termas de Río Hondo MotoGP circuit in Santiago del Estero, Argentina received approval from motorcycle governing body FIM to host the third round of this year's MotoGP World Championship in April. It will be the first MotoGP event held in Argentina since '99. With the circuit now fully approved, those working at the venue will look to complete work on the pit-lane area by the race weekend of April 25-27.

01/29/14 The MotoGP race scheduled for Sept. 28 in Brasilia has "been canceled due to construction work at the Nelson Piquet circuit demanding more time than initially expected," according to the EFE. The Brasilia government arrived at the conclusion that "there will not be sufficient time to prepare to host a motorcycling race." The reason for the cancellation "is the difficulty of the work necessary to prepare the circuit to host international competitions." The Brasilia authorities said that they are "maintaining their intentions of hosting a Brazil Grand Prix in '15." EFE
