Elledge Replaces Harrison at Phoenix Racing

Jimmy Elledge is taking over interim crew chief duties at Phoenix Racing for the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday.

The move comes after Nick Harrison left Phoenix Racing to be the crew chief at Richard Childress Racing for the No. 33 Nationwide team.

Elledge was with Kyle Larson on Tuesday at a test session at Martinsville Speedway.

Elledge was a crew chief at Turner Scott Motorsports in 2011 and ’12. The move reunites him with Justin Allgaier with Allgaier driving two of the remaining six Cup races for Phoenix Racing.

"I am looking forward to having Jimmy on the box making the calls the rest of the year,’’ Allgaier said in a statement from the team. “He's a familiar voice and we've had success working together.’’

Harrison joined Phoenix Racing in 2010. Among the drivers he worked with were Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte, AJ Allmendinger and Landon Cassill.

Harrison scored a Nationwide Series win with Busch at Daytona in July 2012.

"In our eyes, Nick has done a great job as crew chief with the No. 51 Chevrolet team in Cup," said Eric Warren, Director of Competition for RCR in a statement from the team. "We have had several discussions with him and really enjoy his fresh attitude and strong work ethic. We believe he is going to be a great fit for RCR and our winning and championship-driven Nationwide program as the crew chief on our No. 33 Chevrolet team."

Said Harrison in a statement from RCR: "I am very thankful to be part of a team with the history and size of Richard Childress Racing. Having worked with a few of the smaller-sized teams, I can appreciate the resources and manpower RCR has throughout their shops. They are known for their winning ways and I'm stepping into a Nationwide team which already has two victories this year.’’
