Tagliani weighing offers but wants back into IndyCar

Canadian race-car driver Alex Tagliani, currently without a ride for 2014, says he’s weighing offers from various series but wants back into IndyCar next year.

“I’m experiencing a strange phenomenon," says the 39-year-old veteran from Lachenaie, Que. “Since I lost my (Barracuda Racing) ride in IndyCar in July, I’ve been getting offers from everywhere.

“I’ll admit it’s nice to be wanted. But, I’ll take time to analyze all the offers before putting my signature on a contract."

Tagliani got behind the wheel for three Grand Am endurance races recently but he admits his heart is still with North American open-wheel racing.

He has 14 podium finishes and seven poles in a 13-year IndyCar and Champ car career, highlighted by a 2004 victory at Road America.

“My wish is to race two more years in open wheel, on a good team that will allow me to fulfill my dream of winning the Indianapolis 500," he says.

KV Racing, which just lost 2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan, is one of the teams pursuing Tagliani.

“We haven’t spoken since Sunday," said Tagliani. “I feel that the team executives have shown great interest in me. So my agent, Will Prappas, will go to the Grand Prix of Houston to meet them."

Tagliani did not deny reports that Dale Coyne Racing is also among the IndyCar teams interested in bringing him aboard for 2014.

“(Coyne) driver Justin Wilson personally contacted me to ask about my availability," said Tagliani.
