IndyCar Baltimore TV Ratings (2nd Update)

UPDATE #2 It's a minor correction, the ALMS broadcast was on ABC on Sunday, tape-delayed. It aired at different times in different parts of the country, presumably, "in pattern." On the West Coast that means there was some overlap between the ALMS replay and the live IndyCar telecast.

09/06/13 It's clear the size of IndyCar's die-hard fan base is just around 350,000 – because only the die-hards will tune in to the pre and post race shows in similar numbers as the race itself – as shown below. And only the die-hards will find the race on the obscure NBC Sports Network. We wonder if this was Tony George's "vision" when he created the IRL, split the sport and killed it. NASCAR's core fan base is around 5 million and F1's around 50 million worldwide.

09/06/13 Below are the TV ratings for this year's Baltimore Grand Prix. Note the ALMS rating and viewers dwarf that of IndyCar as NBC Sports Network remains the noose around IndyCar's neck. If the IndyCar race had been on ABC they too would have had over 1 million viewers.
