The latest casualty in Anton’s ‘vision’ (Update)

UPDATE It may have more to do with good old greed then Tony G. The Malibu Grand Prix sits on some prime property that will probably become condos and townhouses. One marina nearby has been filled in and covered with condos and townhouses. A second is in the process of being closed and converted to housing.

08/15/13 AR1.com wrote about "America's dying love for the automobile" Part 1 and Part 2 . We have also written numerous articles about how Anton George's 'Vision" (remember Vision racing) has destroyed open wheel racing in the USA. There is no denying that any longer.

The latest casualty in that 'vision' is the Malibu Grand Prix in Redwood City, Calif., which offers miniature IndyCar racing, miniature golf, bumper boats, batting cages and arcade games that opened in 1979. After 35 years of operation the center will be closing on Sunday because of America's dying love for the automobile and America's dying love for open wheel racing after it was destroyed by the 'vision.'

Many other Malibu Grand Prixs have gone belly up since Anton George started the IRL, split the sport and killed it. It goes right down to the grassroots level – from Malibu Grand Prixs to local midget and sprint car tracks all the way up to the miniature TV ratings for IndyCars.
