Sunoco Becomes Presenting Sponsor of INDYCAR Race at Pocono

Pocono Raceway announced today, in partnership with Sunoco, the IZOD IndyCar Series race at “The Tricky Triangle" on July 7, is now renamed the Pocono INDYCAR 400 Fueled by Sunoco. The 400-mile event at Pocono Raceway, the second leg of the Fuzzy’s Triple Crown, will be the first open-wheel event at the 2.5-mile, triangular-shaped track since 1989.

“Sunoco has been a great partner of the Raceway for many years," said Brandon Igdalsky, President and CEO of Pocono Raceway. “We are thrilled they came on board as the presenting sponsor for such a historic race as this one, marking the first open-wheel race at Pocono in 24 years. We cannot thank them enough for all their continued support."

Sunoco, in addition to being the official fuel of INDYCAR and an official partner of Pocono Raceway since 2004, will sponsor the No. 11 Sunoco “Turbo" Chevrolet driven by 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner, Tony Kanaan. Kanaan is looking to become only the second driver in history, since Al Unser accomplished this feat in 1978, to earn the Triple Crown award. This year’s Triple Crown award, sponsored by Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka, is a payout of $1,000,000 to the driver who wins the 2013 Indianapolis 500, the 2013 Pocono INDYCAR 400 Fueled by Sunoco and the 2013 MAVTV 500 Championship Race at Auto Club Speedway.
