Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium is officially ready to ROC following the completion of construction work on the track for the 2012 Race Of Champions.

The event, which is being staged for the 25th consecutive year in 2012, brings together the world’s greatest drivers from motor sport’s main disciplines – including Formula 1, world rally, touring cars, Le Mans, MotoGP, IndyCar and the X-Games – and sets them free to battle head-to-head in identical machinery.

The racing action begins with Friday’s ROC Thailand and ROC Asia, followed by the ROC Nations Cup on Saturday and the individual Race Of Champions on Sunday. There will also be a packed program of entertainment both on and off track – including the inaugural ‘ROC Rocks’ Festival adjacent to the Rajamangala Stadium featuring stands by partners including Red Bull, Singha, Toyota and Yamaha.

Race fans will be able to catch a wide array of stunt shows in the Festival area and get close to the stars of the sport. Among the highlights, there will be appearances by 13-time grand prix winner David Coulthard and four-time world stunt riding champion Chris Pfeiffer at the Red Bull stand. 2012 MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo will visit the Yamaha stand, which will also feature shows by trials riders. Singha will stage a concert while Toyota will host drifting demonstrations and much more including percussionists and DJs.

There will be a range of shows during breaks in the on-track action too – including demonstration runs by the Red Bull F1 car and Lorenzo’s Yamaha bike. There will be two-wheel stunts by Pfeiffer and Bill Dixon plus four-wheel stunts by Terry Grant, who will even attempt a world record for donuts while standing on the roof of his car.

Coverage of Saturday’s ROC Nations Cup and Sunday’s Race Of Champions will be available on television all over the world. Stations showing ROC live include SAT1 in Germany, Motors TV throughout Europe, Al Jazeera in the Middle East, Fox in Latin America and Brazil, Fox Sports in Australia, the Sony Entertainment Network in India, PPTV and Euro Soccer channel in China, Super Sport in Africa plus many more. Please check local listings for exact details of broadcast times.
