The race was the first to not air against the Olympics since ESPN took over the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule at the end of July and the rating was up from a 3.7 for last year’s race.
ESPN’s live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Montreal on Saturday, Aug. 18, earned a 1.4 household coverage rating (1.2 U.S. rating), averaging 1,720,183 viewers. Last year’s race telecast earned a 1.5 rating.
