Danica spins again

Danica Patrick was on the way to her first top-10 finish on a track shorter than 1.5 miles in length before she lost control and spun again.

Patrick tried to pass underneath the lapped car of Jason Bowles, only to wiggle and run up into him before spinning out with 50 laps left in the Nationwide Series race Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

While Patrick spun, she didn’t hit anything and was able to remain in 13th. She settled for a 14th-place finish in the F.W. Webb 200, a decent day but another one where she couldn’t complete a full race without incident.

“We definitely were having the best short-track race we’ve ever had, that’s for sure," Patrick said. “We didn’t go a lap down. We stayed in the lead lap all day and got in the top-10 there."

“Lapped traffic just can be a pain in the butt sometimes and my car wasn’t good enough to go all the way down in the first lane (inside), so when I got forced down there or someone pinched me, we were just a little loose all day and it went over the mark and came around," Patrick said. “I managed not to hit anything except for (Bowles)."

“I’m learning how to spin out in these cars," she said. “When I spun around, I gassed it up. … Luckily I stayed off the wall and we were able to salvage something."
