NASCAR penalizes Elliott Sadler for Iowa Nationwide Series violations

Elliott Sadler and his team were fined by NASCAR after the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet was found to be too low after last Sunday's race at Iowa Speedway.

Sadler was docked six points in the driver standings while team owner DeLana Harvick was penalized six championship owner points . Crew chief Luke Lambert has been fined $10,000.

Officially the No. 2 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20A-12.8.1C (body height requirements – car failed to meet the minimum rear car heights) of the 2012 NASCAR rule book.

It marks the second time in less than a month the team has been in violation of the NASCAR rule book.

Illegal front bumper covers were found at Richmond International Raceway and NASCAR issued probations and fines after confiscating a number of covers at the track.

Lambert was fined $10,000 and put on probation through the end of the year while car chief Phil Gould also was put on probation through the end of the year. There were no points penalties in that violation.
