SAFEisFAST.com is a free online resource offering video tutorials on safety, fitness, mental skills, race craft, career development, sponsorship, marketing and more to assist the careers of drivers in all forms of racing. The website was created by the Road Racing Drivers Club (RRDC), led by president Bobby Rahal, in conjunction with the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Sustainability. Since its launch, there have been over 90,000 views of the online tutorials with visitors representing 105 countries.
Through Sunday, April 22, drivers will be able to pose questions to Franchitti via a form on SAFEisFAST.com. Franchitti will begin answering questions online on Monday, April 23, and continuing through Friday, April 27, just prior to the Sao Paulo Indy 300 on April 29.
Coinciding with Franchitti taking over the reigns as the next instructor, SAFEisFAST.com launched its newest online video tutorial which features valuable tips and advice on working with the media from members of the SPEED TV broadcast team including Bob Varsha, Calvin Fish, Leigh Diffey, Brian Till and Chris Neville.
“We are thrilled with the success of the Online Driving Instructor program and the viewership and feedback on our new series of videos," said Rahal, fresh from a successful fourth annual RRDC West Coast banquet, which was held prior to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and honored motorsports innovator and champion driver Jim Hall. “To have top names in racing willing to donate their time to give back to the sport is just tremendous."
Upcoming Online Driving Instructors include JR Hildebrand, James Hinchcliffe, Andy Lally, Johnny O’Connell and Scott Pruett with additional drivers to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
The SAFEisFAST.com film crew attended the Long Beach event to film a new tutorial on the Secrets to Street Circuit Racing, which will feature Rubens Barrichello, Sebastien Bourdais, Helio Castroneves, Adrian Fernandez, JR Hildebrand, Takuma Sato and Oriol Servia.
Upcoming video features will include Race Car Setup Part II, Working with the Media Part II, Basic Driver Workout, Nutrition: Fueling the Driver, Recovering from Injuries, Marketing Yourself and Maximizing Physical Preparation.
