Despite rain Long Beach draws over 170K

Despite rain that washed away most of Friday’s activities, the 38th Annual Toyota Grand Prix has to be rated a positive event, according to Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach.

“Our total weekend attendance was in excess of 170,000," Michaelian said, “and the ‘down’ numbers caused by Friday rain were made up with an extraordinary Saturday crowd, as well as our usual strong Sunday attendance.

“Coupled with some great racing, we’re proud with the overall results of the 38th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach."
