Does ownership mean retirement?

Since Davey Hamilton announced his ownership in the No. 77 Schmidt-Hamilton HP Motorsports car, he has asked if he is retiring from the cockpit. His response:

“I’m going to take the Eddie Cheever approach on that. You know, I can’t say that I’m completely retired. I may not drive Indy cars anymore, but there is that Indy 500 that always sticks in my mind."
