Former NASCAR driver charged with soliciting prostitution

Former Camping World Truck Series driver and team owner Mario Gosselin was arrested last week on a charge of soliciting prostitution as part of a sting operation set up by the Polk County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office.

Gosselin, who has 46 career starts in the series with the last coming in 2010 when he finished 16th in the standings, was released on $250 bond, according to a report on the PCSO jail website.

Mario Gosselin last competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010.

According to a news release, PCSO detectives, acting in an undercover capacity, conducted an online vice operation targeting online adult ads. During the three-day operation, 47 suspects either responded to the ads or met with detectives.

According to the arrest report, the 40-year-old Gosselin offered $80 for oral sex last Friday night and was later arrested.

Gosselin has two career Cup starts, which came in 2004, and three starts in the Nationwide Series in addition to his 46 truck races. He recorded his best career finish in October 2009 with a sixth at Talladega. He placed ninth in March 2010 at Martinsville.

An email message to a contact on Gosselin’s DGM Racing website was not immediately returned. Sporting News
