Menard On The Pole For Charlotte Nationwide Race

Paul Menard topped Saturday's qualifying session for tonight's Dollar General 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Menard took to the track as the final qualifier and beat out Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. for the top spot, turning a lap of 29.079 seconds (185.701 mph) to secure his fourth career Nationwide Series Coors Light Pole Award and his second of the season.

Brad Keselowski took third, followed by Joey Logano, and Carl Edwards.

Driving a car owned by Richard Childress Racing teammate Kevin Harvick, Menard clocked in as the fastest in Saturday's opening practice session and backed that up in qualifying in his seventh start in the no. 33 KHI Chevrolet.

Kyle Busch, Sam Hornish, Jr., Brian Scott, Brian Vickers and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top ten.

Chase Miller pounded the inside wall in the frontstretch during his qualifying run to bring out the only caution of the session. Miller was unhurt, but he failed to make the field, joining Carl Long, Matt Carter, Casey Roderick, Dennis Setzer and Mark Green.
