Marrakech round to be replaced

The race event in Marrakech, that was meant to be the second round of the Auto GP 2011 Championship together with the World Touring Car Championship, has been cancelled and will be replaced. The decision was taken today by the FIA World Motor Sport Council after the local promoter was not able to secure the financial support required to keep the event going. The staff is already at work in order to secure a replacement event for WTCC and Auto GP. The new event should take place in the same date on a track in Central Europe, and the final decision should be announced within one month.

Enzo Coloni: "Marrakech would have provided a staggering background for the Auto GP action and was a much awaited challenge for our drivers, but such an event can't be held without the right support from the local institutions. So we fully support the decision made by FIA and WTCC; our cooperation is very close and I'm sure that a replacement event will be announced very quickly".
