Luca Filippi in Auto GP with Euronova

The Auto GP grid quality keeps raising: the latest addition to the series entry list is Luca Filippi, who will race with the Italian team Euronova from the maiden event of the series, planned for April 25 in Brno. That's undoubtedly an high-value entry for the series, because Filippi is among the most brilliant Italian talents; he is aiming to make his debut in an F.1 race in the current season and he chose Auto GP to keep himself trained. 25 years-old, Luca is racing at the highest levels in motorsport from a long time: he was runner-up in the last GP2 Asia season with one win and two podium finishes, and this came after a really good Main Series season in which he was fifth overall, clinching one win and three podiums.

Besides winning in GP2, where Luca races from 2005 and where his best placement in the championship standings is a 4th overall in 2007, Luca enjoyed success throughout his whole career: in 2008 he was chosen by Honda to be the test driver of the Japanese F.1 team, while in 2005 he was Italian F3000 champion. So, he will surely be a tough opponent for everybody, also because he will have the advantage of a proven relationship with the Italian outfit and with Vincenzo Sospiri, the team manager. That's because Filippi made his debut on single-seaters with Euronova, racing in F.Renault in 2003 and 2004. Sospiri was so impressed by the Italian driver, that he decided to keep following his career when Luca left the team.

Enzo Coloni: "Having Filippi in the championship is a very big pleasure. This show again that Auto GP keeps attracting top-notch drivers, interested in racing on a really good car and in the huge prize money we have put up for grabs. Luca is both quick and experienced, so he has everything is needed to be among the best drivers in the championship".

Luca Filippi: "I decided to race in Auto GP because it puts together two organizations that I know well, Euronova and Coloni. I started racing with Euronova, and I have a wonderful relationship with Vincenzo and the team, so when I saw that they were racing in the championship I started thinking about it. I immediately understood that were preparing a great series, and so I'm here. The last time I raced in a Coloni championship, the Italian F3000 in 2005, I won it so I decided to try again".
