Positive news about Massa from Hungarian hospital

Felipe Massa

(GMM) Felipe Massa will remain in induced coma for two more days but the result of his brain scan on Sunday was "reassuring", the medical director of the AEK hospital in central Budapest said.

"It (the CT scan) brought the result we had expected concerning an injury of this type," Peter Gaszo said.

He revealed that the 28-year-old Brazilian, who underwent emergency surgery after sustaining skull damage and brain contusion in a qualifying incident on Saturday, was woken for a short time on Sunday.

Massa responded to his family, including his father, brother and wife who are at his bedside, and then sedated again, reportedly as standard procedure with head injuries of this type.

Baszo said the coma will continue until Tuesday.

"I think he's okay," F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, who visited Massa in hospital on Saturday and again on Sunday morning, said today in the Hungaroring paddock.

"Everybody seemed quite happy with him this morning. The hospital is happy, which is more important."
