Edmonton circuit undamaged by summer storm

Temporary structures at Edmonton City Centre Airport in place for the second Rexall Edmonton Indy this weekend escaped damage July 18 as a violent storm rolled through the area.

No major injuries were reported during the evening thunderstorm that packed winds that uprooted mature trees, hail as large as a toonie and knocked out power to tens of thousands of residents.

Conquest Racing driver Alex Tagliani was arriving via airplane at the height of the storm.

"It was the first time in all my traveling years that I had a white knuckle hold on my armrests," he said
