Peugeot commits to race at Petit Le Mans, no word on Audi

Peugeot’s next race will be at Road Atlanta, three months after it won June’s 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of archrival Audi. The French manufacturer confirmed that it will field a pair of its 908 HDi turbo diesel prototypes in the Petit Le Mans 1,000-mile endurance event. Audi also confirmed that it scrapped its plan to enter the next round of the Le Mans Series in Europe in Portugal.

Peugeot Sport team manager Serge Saulnier explained that it is vital that the team keeps racing as it gears up to defend its Le Mans crown in 2010.

“If we are to run at Le Mans next year, and we should know [if we are] in a few weeks, it is important to keep running, keep developing the car and keep improving as a team," he said. “We need to maintain the momentum of the program."
