Gordon to lease Penske engines

Robby Gordon will lease engines from Penske Racing for the remainder of the Sprint Cup season beginning next weekend at Kansas. Gordon has used Gillett Evernham Motorsports engines all year, but when the two organizations resolved a lawsuit Friday in which they opted not to merge, that also dissolved their engine agreement. "He's never leased engines before," Gordon said of team owner Roger Penske. “This is a big deal for us. It's a great opportunity and we're just going to work hard to make it work." Gordon said he went to Penske three weeks ago when it became evident his relationship with GEM was at risk. He said Penske promised then to help out, and "one thing about Roger, he's a man of his word." Gordon said it is too early to determine if the deal could spill over into next season, but he didn't rule it out "if it works out for both parties." ESPN
