Sutil to start Aus GP from pits

(GMM) Adrian Sutil will start today's Australian grand prix from the pit lane.

The Force India driver spun off after getting the high-speed chicane wrong during qualifying on Saturday.

It now emerges that the bottom of his chassis was badly damaged when he crashed over the kerbs, and the Silverstone based team had to revert to building up a new car for the race.

The Dutch publication Formule 1 Race Report claims that the monocoque is so badly damaged that it is unlikely to ever reappear at a grand prix.

The regulations in 2008 forbid the use of more than two race cars per team per weekend, so the penalty for Germany's Sutil is to drop off the grid altogether, where he was scheduled to start from nineteenth.
