Barrett-Jackson calls it Muscle Car Wars, a chance to bid on high-performance models from the three Detroit automakers, including the Corvette ZR1 and Dodge Challenger SRT8.
The Jan. 19 event will benefit charities and is part of the famed Barrett-Jackson auction held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
• The orange pearl 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will feature a dash plaque indicating that it's No. 1 of production. The auction benefits notMYkid — an organization dedicated to facilitating improved understanding about youth behavioral-health issues.
• The Corvette ZR1 convertible, which will be displayed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month, will be the first production model available to the public. Proceeds will benefit the United Way in Michigan.
• Ford will sell a 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 KR coupe, first shown at the New York Auto Show in 2007, to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
