Team Sahlen to run Corvette in Grand-Am

The Corvette has a long history in sports car racing, dating back to the 1950's. The ROLEX Grand American series has witnessed several of those wins, including an overall victory at the 2001 ROLEX 24 Hours. For 2008, Team Sahlen hopes to give Corvette fans at the Grand American events something to continue to cheer about by being the only team to campaign the Corvette full time in the ROLEX series. During the entire 13 event ROLEX GT season, Team Sahlen will campaign two ZO6 racers for a 2nd straight season.

Team Sahlen will campaign their HRPWorld.com Corvettes Z06 race cars in the familiar red, black and yellow paint scheme that fans have grown oh so familiar with. Drivers will be the father & son duo of Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker in car #43, plus Joe Sahlen & Will Nonnamaker paired up in the #42 racer.

"Everyone at Team Sahlen is very excited about our second year with the HRPWorld.com Corvettes for 2008. I have loved Corvettes since I was a kid. Knowing that all the Corvette fans at the track will be pulling for us each weekend makes this even more thrilling. The November Test Days went very well. And we have several more things to test at the upcoming January tests." – commented Joe Nonnamaker.

The focus for 2007 was to develop and refine the Corvette package. While many other competitors spent the fall of 2006 developing their cars, Team Sahlen did not receive their two Corvettes until 2 days before the ROLEX 24 hours. Despite this handicap, the team did not let this stop them from accomplishing several significant marks in 2007: 2nd in GT Bob Akin Award, Top Finish by Corvette (6th place – Iowa), Top Ten in GT Team Points, Top finishing Corvette in seven of thirteen events.

"We are proud to be a part of Team Sahlen again in 2008 for our 7th straight season. Our partnership has evolved over the years. Having Team Sahlen racing a Hoerr Racing Product designed chassis just solidifies our commitment to the present and future of sports car racing in North America." – states Jason Mitchell of HRPWorld.com (http://www.hrpworld.com)

"Sahlen's continues to support the ROLEX Grand American Series. The series saw remarkable growth in 2007. For 2008 and beyond, the future appears very bright and we are proud to be a part of that growth. Beyond our ROLEX campaign, Team Sahlen will also be campaigning one to two Mazdas in the KONI Challenge Series Street Tuner class. Additionally, we will continue with our partnership as presenter of the Grand American's Paddock Club Hospitality Suite" – added Joe Sahlen

Sahlen Packing, Co., Inc. is based out of Buffalo, New York a short drive from where the company first stepped into Grand American Road Racing.
