Crew Chief Slams COT

Click here: Meanwhile, NASCAR's car of tomorrow will make its third run of the season this week at Phoenix, in what is shaping up as a key test for its controversial aerodynamics and poor handling. But criticism of the new car continues, with some crew chiefs predicting the next step in its evolution will be NASCAR itself providing full-composite bodies, much as it already provides shocks and rear wings at some tracks.

"Maybe NASCAR could just start handing out the entire car to us each week," one crew chief said, tongue-in-cheek. "That way I could get rid of most of the guys on my team. NASCAR could hand us each a car on Friday, and we could spend the rest of the day painting it up, and then practice and qualify Saturday. That would save us a bunch of money."
