Sauber being phased out by BMW

Peter Sauber has confessed he no longer has any part to play in the day to day running of the BMW-Sauber Petronas Formula One team. The Swiss team owner cut a forlorn figure as the new car was presented to the world’s media on Tuesday in Valencia, Spain. As the new car was unveiled with the principal characters on stage, Peter Sauber sat in the wings watching silently among the invited guests, his role appears to be all but in name. Asked what his involvement was within the running of the BMW-Sauber team, he replied “absolutely nothing".

With the sole function of providing facilities at Hinwil, Peter Sauber looks to have been marginalized even further as BMW strengthen their position and it can only be a matter of time before the Sauber name disappears altogether.
