MIS to add enhanced seating for 2007

Race fans will see the first of many improvements at Michigan International Speedway in 2007, starting with the enhancement of two grandstands in Turn One, track President Roger Curtis announced today.

MIS will replace two existing grandstands in Turn One with new, fan friendly grandstands. The new grandstands will offer race fans premium seating and amazing sightlines of the two-mile oval.

This ambitious project has already begun and is expected to be completed by the start of the 2007 race season at MIS.

“These new grandstands will be the first of several improvements that will enhance the overall fan experience at MIS," Curtis said. “We are making it a priority to increase fan amenities and improve the total race experience for all our fans — from the moment they leave their homes to the moment they return after the race and everything in between."

Seats in the new grandstands are four inches wider than the seats in the old grandstands, and will allow fans to have more leg room. In addition, all of the new seats are bench-style with seat backs.

The new grandstands are also higher than the old grandstands so fans who sit there will have breathtaking views of all the track action at MIS — including a fantastic view down pit road.

As a secondary part of this project, the Pit Terrace grandstands will be removed to make way for additional infield RV parking at the track. The new Pit Road Campground sites will offer fans a new way to experience race day at MIS. These sites are adjacent to pit road so guests there will experience all the action up-close.

The improvements are a result of feedback with MIS race fans through surveys, phone calls and e-mail.

“We are making a huge investment in MIS and in all the race fans that support us. We’re ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work on the first of what will be many more projects that will enhance the fan experience and continue to make MIS the premier motorsports facility in the Midwest," Curtis said.

Other improvements at MIS for 2007 include enhanced tram stops and additional trams for disabled guests.
