SPEED re-signs Earnhardt

SPEED is bringing back Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Back in the Day for another season, signing a deal with the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series star’s production company, Hammerhead Entertainment, for another 13 episodes of the 30-minute homage to NASCAR races of the 1960s and ‘70s. New shows will debut during Daytona Speedweeks in 2007.

“I think it’s important to show our history of the sport and to have a platform like Back in the Day to share them with everybody is cool," Earnhardt Jr., said. “We’re going through the library of shows for another season and will add a few surprises along the way. I’m looking forward to get it started."

Season One DVDs of Back in the Day, a modern adaptation of the vintage race program Car and Track with Bud Lindemann, will be available in November.

“We’ve had a lot of fun with this show," said Hunter Nickell, SPEED EVP & General Manager. “It’s cool to work on a project with one of the most popular and talented drivers in motor sports. Dale really knows the history of the sport … he literally grew up surrounded by the legends of NASCAR. So, teaming for a second season of Back in the Day is great news for Earnhardt fans and SPEED viewers."
